If you’re planning a golf holiday or event with friends or colleagues in East Lothian, Winton is a great place to base yourself and we can help organise your stay.
Historically, the owners of Winton Estate have played an important role in developing East Lothian’s most famous golf courses because their lands originally included Muirfield, Archerfield and Gullane.
East Lothian, aptly known as ‘Scotland’s Golf Coast’, boasts some of the best links and inland golf courses in the world: North Berwick, Gullane and Dunbar lead the way.
There are 22 excellent golf courses within 10 to 20 minutes drive of Winton Castle, including Craigielaw, Royal Musselburgh (the oldest playing golf course in the world) and Longniddry, with friendly clubhouses and affordable green fees.
There’s more information on golf courses on the Golf East Lothian website.
If you want to stay in your own castle, Winton Castle sleeps up to 16 guests and provides facilities for grand dinners and parties in historic Scottish Renaissance splendour. As an exclusive use venue, the castle would be all yours.
Golfing parties can also stay at 4 star Wintonhill Farmhouse, our classic Georgian 4 star self-catering farmhouse that sleeps 12, complete with its own practice bunker and chipping area.
Another good option is 5 star Winton Cottage, an extremely comfortable 5 star self-catering country house with lots of character which comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests.
Catering can also be provided with these properties.
For those in your party less excited about golf, Winton can put on a range of activities.
Alternatively, you can indulge in East Lothian’s many other attractions: sweeping sandy beaches, fishing, sailing, horse riding, hill walking in the Lammermuirs, racing at Musselburgh Racecourse, Glenkinchie Distillery, the Scottish Seabird Centre, the Museum of Flight.
And, of course, the cultural city of Edinburgh is only half an hour away.
