This is the story of Bright’s Christmas Party at Winton Castle, the exclusive use events venue near Edinburgh.

The action-packed entertainment included treasure hunts, indoor curling, a murder mystery, Christmas dinner, lots of dancing, and, of course, a little Prosecco.

We are grateful to Kate McHugh, Bright’s Business Director, for providing the content. Based in Edinburgh, Bright brings visitor experiences, brands and commercial interiors alive with passion, imagination and creativity.

Why did you choose Winton Castle for your Christmas party?

“I have known Paul for a long while and had visited Winton Castle on a couple of occasions.  We tried to organise something last year but didn’t manage to get it together! This time Paul planned an event for us and it sounded fun.

“We always try and do something a bit different at Christmas. For instance, one year we had a treasure hunt through the woods and on the beach at Yellowcraigs in East Lothian, in the dark with head torches on, mulled wine in the dunes and back to a director’s house for dinner afterwards…”

What hospitality and entertainment was provided?

“Winton laid on transport from Edinburgh, fire braziers at the front door, a welcome reception of Prosecco and an introduction from Paul in the drawing room.

“The Bright team was split into two. Half the group took part in a treasure hunt in the grounds, in the dark, of course, and half played indoor curling. Then we swopped round.

“More Prosecco followed in the drawing room where a troupe of actors mingled with us and someone was murdered very sadly! We then took our seats for dinner in the Octagon Room and the murder scenario was played out.

“The dinner was excellent. Dancing followed.”

What was the feedback from your team?

“Everyone loved the castle, the food, the evening and the hospitality.

“The castle was warm, welcoming. The staff were friendly, also welcoming and service excellent.

“All the team said how stunning the castle was, and how much they enjoyed themselves.”
