Wedding Ceremonies
Within the Castle our grand Drawing Room provides a truly memorable setting for your wedding ceremony. With its ornate plasterwork and stunning views over the gardens, the Drawing Room can seat up to 110 of your guests. Alternatively, the beautiful Dining Room can seat up to 150 guests for the ceremony.
Outdoor Ceremonies
When the Scottish weather is kind, you may choose to hold your ceremony in one of our outdoor locations. The beautiful Walled Garden is enclosed with ancient stone walls and bursts with seasonal colours. Alternatively, our Terraced Gardens provide views over Sir David’s Loch and is magnificent on a sunny day.
The drinks reception during your wedding celebration is the perfect time to mingle with your guests, enjoy delicious canapés, and raise a glass to your life together. Winton has lots of beautiful settings both inside the castle and throughout the grounds.
Within the castle, the grand Entrance Hall welcomes you with its roaring fire before leading into the dramatic Octagon Room where your bar awaits. The Library provides a cosy and intimate retreat, ideal for savouring a dram surrounded by exquisite artworks and ornate ceilings.
Outdoors, our enchanting gardens offer equally memorable spaces for your reception. Adjacent to the castle lies the Croquet Lawn, where guests can enjoy classic lawn games such as croquet and cornhole – or even add a touch of fun with one of our activities. The terraced gardens provide a romantic backdrop for raising a glass and celebrating your day in style.
Whether you celebrate indoors or outdoors, Winton Castle is an enchanting setting to celebrate with your loved ones.
Our talented panel of local chefs and trusted caterers will design a wedding banquet that reflects both your tastes and the best of Scotland’s seasonal produce. Using locally sourced ingredients, they will craft a magnificent menu that delights the senses and showcases the very best of the region.
Ahead of your big day, you’ll be invited to a complimentary menu tasting, where you’ll meet your chef and explore the flavours that will bring your celebration to life.
On your wedding day, up to 100 guests can be seated in the Castle’s grand Dining Room, or 130 with two elegant adjoining rooms. For larger celebrations, a marquee can be added within the Castle grounds, so you can invite 250 or more guests while still providing a truly magical setting for your day (see below).

The Octagon Hall provides a vibrant reception area with an in house bar team offering a full selection of beers, spirits, whiskies, and liqueurs, all tailored to you. For something extra special, why not treat your guests to cocktails, complete with our skilled and creative mixologists.
Winton Castle also offers beautiful spaces for larger wedding celebrations. A marquee can be set up on the Croquet Lawn, just steps away from the Castle, creating a seamless flow between your reception and the historic surroundings. Our hired wedding marquees are elegantly lined and styled, offering wonderful views of the Castle itself, the terraced gardens, and Sir David’s Loch.
You can choose a marquee for 100 – 130, 130 – 180 or up to 250 guests.
As The Evening Draws In
You and your guests will enjoy the freedom of the Castle throughout the evening, with dancing in full swing in the Dining Room, now your Ball Room. Any guests who prefer to relax, can lounge in front of the fire in the cosy Library.
You can spice up your evening with fire pits, sparklers or fireworks for some outdoor fun, or set up a whisky bar in the Vaulted Cellar for a real Scottish twist.
Wedding Accommodation
Winton Castle itself can accommodate up to 20 guests across ten magnificent bedrooms, which include two recently refurbished en-suite rooms and a romantic Bridal Suite, perfect for your first night as a married couple. Each bedroom blends historic charm with modern comforts, offering an indulgent retreat for you and your closest family and friends.
For larger parties and more overnight stays, the estate also offers three luxurious 18th century self-catering country houses, all located within a short five-minute drive, or half hour walk, from the Castle. Each house is beautifully restored, combining period features with contemporary amenities, and provides a private, very comfortable base for guests to relax and enjoy the Winton Estate.
Winton Cottage sleeps up to 12 guests, Winton Hill Farmhouse up to 14, and Broomrigg Farmhouse up to 8 (with a wood-fired hot tub!).
