East Lothian, rightly known as “Scotland’s Golf Coast”, boasts some of the best links courses and inland golf courses in the world, including North Berwick, Gullane, Dunbar and even Muirfield where this year’s Open was hosted.

There are 22 excellent golf courses within 10 to 20 minutes drive of Winton House, just half an hour from Edinburgh in East Lothian. These include Craigielaw, Royal Musselburgh (the oldest playing golf course in the world) and Longniddry, with friendly clubhouses and affordable green fees.

The owners of Winton played a critical role in developing East Lothian’s most famous golf courses because they owned the lands of Muirfield, Archerfield and Gullane.

If you are planning a golf break with friends, you might be interested in Winton Estate’s large, luxury self-catering country houses.
