Corporate Social Responsibility is embedded in Winton Estate’s management culture. The Estate is owned by the Winton Trust and the Trustees have a responsibility for good stewardship so that the estate can be passed onto the next generation.
The estate aspires to play a role locally and on a national stage for the environment, the economy and the community. Winton Castle takes a very long term approach to the environment, operating sustainably and following good practice.
Since 2011 Winton Castle has held a Gold Green Tourism Business Award (GTBS) for its sustainable approach to corporate hospitality and private hospitality.
Winton Castle has also won a VIBES Award (Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland) in recognition for its sustainable approach, local sourcing, waste-cutting, recycling and promoting biodiversity.
In 2011 Winton was accredited with 3 green ticks, the highest Green Business Network level of accreditation.
This demonstrates that Winton has “…an environmental policy, is committed to complying with legislation, reviews its suppliers, regularly reviews its environmental action plan, engages staff on environmental issues, and also has an environmental management system in place.”
